SKSE 1.7.2 keeps asking me to update to the latest version of skyrim...

Hoping someone would have an idea what has just happened.

I've been playing with 1.7.2 for maybe 2 weeks now just fine. Today, I uninstalled a few mods (Deviously cursed loot, defeat) and updated to the latest versions of those mods, plus pet collar. Used wrye bash.

I try to start the game, and it starts squawking at me to update my version of skyrim. This is something I've never encountered before. Went over everything I uninstalled or installed to see if they messed with the skyrim folder (not the data folder), particularly any SKSE files. All is good. I think Wrye bash doesnt install any files outside of the data folder anyway.

Would anyone have a clue why this has just started? Skyrim can really, really be an unpredictable and cranky fusspot sometimes. >_<

Edit: Hmmm, launching directly using the SKSE loader doesnt give me any issue. This issue only happens when I use the Play button on Steam. Likely due to a steam client update I guess.

IF you activate the game with the Steam Launcher then SKSE should not be working.

You should always activate the game with the SKSE launcher,  there is actually a button in Wyre Bash for SKSE Launcher as well.

NMM and MO also have SKSE Launcher buttons.

Yeah I'm launching directly using the SKSE launcher now. I can't remember what I did 1.5-2 years back, renamed some files which allowed me to use the steam launcher for my SKSE-game. Thanks.

I had the same problem, and it turned out I was using a shortcut for the Skyrim Launcher, not the SKSE Launcher (Loader).

Both launchers are in the same folder, so it is easy to shortcut the wrong one.

You need to launch the game from the skse_loader, not the Skyrim launcher exe.

There is a YouTube Video, Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) Installing and running on Skyrim, about 47 MB on my resolution copy.

Watch it on a side window on your desktop and follow it step-by-step as you perform what it instructs.

It will fix your problem.
