Skyrim and Cpu overclocking?

Yeah so I overclocked my CPU to 4.7ghz and my GPU as well. The overclock is stable and all but my Skyrim CTD's after 10-15 minutes. It only happens on Skyrim every other game went fine. First I cancelled the XMP on the memory, then gpu overclocking, lastly cancelled the CPU overclock and everything went fine. Put the GPU overlock back and was also fine. So with all that said can Skyrim handle cpu overlocking with you guys?

Its doesn't really matter that much just kinda annoying sometimes.

Chances are you're CTD's are due to something else. My PC has been overclocked from 3.1ghz to 4.3ghz for over 2 years now. With liquid cooling and in a well ventilated room.

Give us a mod list, load order, and papyrus logs.

If your CTD's were because of an overclocked CPU, then you'd shut down, not CTD

Yeah I kinda thought the same thing that is why I had some doubts and posted the question here. I'm also on a custom loop. But I'm kind of a noob at trouble shooting skyrim. Err how do I post papyrus logs and a mod list without typing everything? Sorry. xD

You have to look at that papyrus section that you posted, enable debugging, then post the logs from %\My Documents\Skyrim.

I don't personally know a lot about debugging papyrus, or fixing load order. I usually just let LOOT handle my load order, and I'm fine. However, it does look like you have quite a few script heavy mods, and that might be your issue.

I just re-read that before you post thread missed that "1" part was skimming through. Well yeah like you I usually just let loot handle things but yeah I do have a lot of mods... Guess its time to cut down on some. Anyways going to try and re-create the same scenario in order to submit any other results.

What are you overclocking?

I usually stop at 4GHZ don't want to go any higher even though I have watercooling it is just not stable to run higher than that.

Well my overclock is stable ran Aida64 to stress test no problems. Ran firestrike as well. i7-4820k at 4.7 was doing stable at 4.8 but went 4.7 so its a 24/7 OC. SLI Titan X's @ 235 core 400 Mem.

AMD FX 8120. Stock 3.1ghz. 8 cores. I just changed the multiplier, and let my ASUS BIOS handle the voltage. I've been nearly 100% stable. I have to reboot, and go back to stock clocking when I run Optimizer Texures, because it's a rather intense program, and causes my CPU to overheat.

But for the most part, yes. I'm stable.

Yatol or Gameplayer will see your post sometime today, I'm sure. They're the guys I trust with Papyrus logs and Load order. They're both REALLY good with them.

only to tell one more time papyrus logs are useless to fix ctd

that thing is to fix your mods that don't work right

had some fail earlier when i add some breezhome upgradable scripts to sofia

there was nothing about that in the log when i tried that, that was a ctd before main menu, broken esp

after finding how to do that, adding temporary esp to sofia esp was 2 errors in the log, wrong alias something in 2 quests (didn't touch that)

putting temporary esp in sofia wasn't the problem

problem was adding breezhome as master to sofia

whatever tesedit do to that esp, skyrim.exe isn't able to read it

a small error that don't cause ctd, so it get in the log, so it can be fixed

well... don't know how to fix that, took care of the problem by putting temporary esp into tow conversation

broken esp aren't the only reason you can ctd, you can ctd because ram full, because broken nif, because broken texture, because broken script... there's some choice

It is kinda weird though that I'm crashing due to a stable cpu overclock, I can play for a while then CTD. When at stock I can play the game for hours without problems. I thought that since my cpu had more power the game should run more stable but then again I have many mods that run heavy scripts. Too many factors to consider.

P.S. That breezehome upgradable also messed with my game I think. I followed the steps to uninstall the mod and also used save game cleaner but I get a CTD when entering the house! Didn't even change anything in the house.

The only ways I know of to resolve that is

-Better Hardware

-Use less Mods that make active script calls

-Try some risky Papyrous Settings

Well you have a known mod in your LO that can introduce an issue with the Breezehome Fully Upgraded.

It takes a lot of time going through someones load order to point out the culprits.

Crashing on Load Screen is usually a failure to set up a scene and can be fixed by making an adjustment in Skyrim.ini Pap setting, thing is this also results in longer load times so I don't often suggest it, actually I often just say leave them alone.

Those mods are all great mods really a lot of fun and they do work nice just not as nice when they are all together in one list....Mostly what your going to see is that some mods just fail to start properly and lag.

Mods I don't think you should use

Spouses Enhanced, personally I think that Amorous Adventures is soo much better

ASX < Dated not needed with Sexlab could be a crash problem

Suggest that you find a better balance with what your going to load up into the game, use a save game script cleaner and remove a mod at a time till your happy with performance.

Fixing it

I use Sexlab Aroused Redux....Its known to perform much better.

If you want to see for yourself in game.

Consul ~

Click on the player

TAB

then find Spell Effects

SHIFT <---Allows you to open the menu while in consul

SHIFT <---Also use on up down arrows to scroll though Skyui consul menu's

Anyways look at Active Hidden

Also pay attention to Hidden unused.

Those spell effects attached to a mod those are the ones that can at times get carried away with what is called "Loop" scripts.

I swear I've read a lot of stuff about changing these values in Pap, most of the stuff out there isn't a good idea but anyway for the sake of completeness here you go, in a TXT file, that's what it'd look like in your Skyrim.ini if you were to mess with them.

breezhome fully upgradable don't have any problem, if it don't work that's because you break it

want to break something? just do that

-go to the alchemy table

-craft some potions

-leave the table

-and immediatly open the sachel to store all ingredients left in your inventory

this will probably be a stack dump in the log, stack dump can be fatal

i use requiem, and i ate some ingredients before doing that

i end up with negative resistance the first time, negative weapon damage the second time

because the stack dump broke a useless script requiem load when you get a debuff (if it break, the debuff isn't removed)

didn't find out what was the problem the first time

it was pure luck i understood it the second time

and it was pure luck there was a console command to repair that in the save (without that, only solution would have been restarting from an older save)

you will break your save more or less easily depending on the mods you choosed, it's all about luck

don't know if you use cwo, but the console commands on that mod description page, that's to allow to continue with your broken save
