Black Body Textures

I have a strange problem with my textures. Only my character has pitch black body. Without head, hands and feet. Pitch black. It happens after reading a new save with Apropos textures using Slave Tats on it. I searched on google but didn't found any answer. My PC is really good so I don't think so it's a problem of memory. (I can run Far Cry 4 on max details..)

Here is a screen:

This is actually a common issue, if you zoom into the black body it should show a strange pattern of black mixed with the true texture colour. If this is the case then your graphics card memory is full and is not loading texture correctly. 2 ways to fix, 1. buy a bigger graphics card with more memory, ( I had this issue a lot running a 1gb gx card, but now hardly at all with a 4 gig one) and /or use one of the texture optimiser tools that you can find on nexus to reduce the texture file size without losing much quality. Some authors release their textures in a pretty raw large file size, ive seen some body.dds as big as 25 megs, so ofc its doesn't take many 25 meg files to fill up your gx card. Run an optimiser and you can shrink them down to 5megs and hardly lose any detail, if any at all to the untrained eye. I use both a 4 gig card and optimised textures and only get black bodys after playing for hours with no skyrim re-boot. hope this helps :) the optimiser I use is called ordenador and is really easy to use. it should be on nexus.. id provide a link but I cant cut paste links here for some reason :/

Just re-read your description and you say have good PC, if you do have 4gig card already then try optimiser :)

My graphics card is GTX 780 so it isn't a problem. Couldn't find a way to run Textures Optimizer with MO. How I can do this?

You can set it up to run from MO , same as you would with FNIS or Wyre Bash and nifskope, or you can just do them one by one, large texture overhauls and stand alone followers and armor are the main culprits for me. I had a gtx 780 too when I had problems, but since I got the 4 gig 970 I rarely see it. BUT! saying that, the optimiser and 780 (think that's 2 gig right?) should be enough for 2k textures, I wouldn't touch 4 k, they for screenshots only imo, my machine struggles on those with 4 gig gx card and 26 gig system ram + 4.2 overclocked cpu. :/

one question I have, does the issue fix itself on a reboot to come back later after zoning or playing game for a while or is it persistent? and constant. If its the later it maybe just a corrupt texture. If so then a re-install of texture and or optimiser should fix it :)

I had once that problem and was because an incorrect texture path in one of the body nifs. Maybe you should see what body mod are you using and check that the texture path.

780 is 3gb. I will try Textures Optimizer. For texture paths, they are good. I use MO and I didn't touched anything.

I found this problem when using the cleanliness function from private needs and the milk leaks from soulgem oven (while running slavetats). They seemed to compete and the result was the entire skin goes black - but I could cure it by going underwater.

Never got to the bottom of it as i deactivated the cleanliness setting and didn't get the problem again.

I don't have soulgem oven.

Was just the 3 mods I was using which looked like they might conflict.

Just glanced at apropos, sounds like it is trying to apply a texture to the same area as something else is trying to and giving you a black texture instead or that you've already got all the slots you can apply textures to filled? I understand there is a limit to how many can be displayed on a char at one time.

But I don't use the mod. So can only hope you find a fix :) though, thank you. Don't know how i missed this mod - I should give it a look.

What?

This is a Texture File size problem.  That's all it is.

Use a smaller file size or use a texture optimizer to alter the file size.  Its just too much for the amount of Video Ram to move around.

yep. Indeed it is, just had to optimize some of mine, trying some diff body textures and instantly got black body, optimising reduced body textures and face textures etc size by 1 gig, and I added mipmaps to that..so was more than gig too big for 4 gig card and overall 16 gig video memory... imagine what the stress is when you have just 2 followers with you using same textures...  3 gig of memory in just 3 bodies. I exaggerate a little cus followers only use a few of the whole texture pack...but you can see our point.

I have seen high glossy bodies do that before.

SOLVED!

For those who have the same problem: Just run Textures Optimizer.

It solved everything. Than you all for the help! :)
