How to properly search for a conflict?

Hello everyone!

I've lost my working set of mods, and decided to put up a new, updated one. I will put it below. It has a problem somewhere, that I can't understand.

It worked for a whole run from Solitude to Morthal with one save/load in between, I've tested almost all features, but then it crashed when I tried to sleep in the Morthal inn. Logs gave me nothing, and there is only one of them that generated something strange.

So I'm asking, how do you put up a set of mods (which should be quite easy, just mods plus dependencies), and how do you then test it for a serious playthrough? How do you find what exactly broke, if something breaks? Is there a usual routine that you follow?

I assume one can't just uncheck mods one by one and launch the game each time, because (1) there are more than 100 of them, and (2) some of them depend on others.

Load order: http://pastebin.com/qt1Vzrm5

I'm seeking more of a generic approach, other than a solution for my current problem. It's just for reference.

Using MO will show you many unexpected conflicts between mods. Think you installed the correct skeleton? Well guess what 3 of the mods you installed overwrote it so no your not actually using the correct skeleton, and many other head scratchers like that (note this is just a general example and is not meant to be a literal example of your issue). If you really want to get deep into mod conflict and interaction then you might want to look into how to get the most out of wire bash. Personally I don't have the time or inclination for that one.

Time for me to migrate to MO, then. After first look it's a bit more complicated, but shows conflicts between mods clearly. I used to install mods in NMM in specific order to control which mod overwrites conflicting files.

And what if several mods all control one aspect, which is failing? In example above (I solved it, by the way) there are at least some mods which react to sleeping: Sleep Tight, Spouses Enchanced, Dangerous Nights [, LoversVictim - but I'm not sure]. None of them have conflict, yet it's still failing and there are no notes in the log.

MO is good for showing conflicting files, you can click for information on the mod and see which specific files are conflicted and if they're not in a bsa you can hide them. If they're in a bsa you can just move one file before the other so the right files you want get written since MO doesn't actually write anything to your real data directory. Other than that, they only other way I know of to search for conflicts is you stick your load order in TES5Edit and select filter for conflict losers, that way it will show you what records are conflicting and you can fix it either manually by copying records or setting up priorities in LOOT through the metadata.
