Oblivion starts to lag after a while

Well after a while my current save starts to lag, massive fps drop (10-15 fps) but i really dont know what's causing that. If i start a new game (with the same mods) it doesnt have any mentioned problems at all. Any idea?

I've always thought it had to do with how many items you had in your backpack or spells in your spell-listing. Because when you start out and you don't have a lot of either of those...the inventory tab opens oh-so-fast.

but as you accumulate crap and spells...it opens slower...and slower...and slower...and then wham...it locks up.

Usually happens around 80-96 hours into the game for me.

Yup,

I think you might have the right of it there, Dreamer. I think it's made worse if one uses DarkUI Danified too. I try to keep my inventory as low as possible and also use a bag of holding and the keychain mod that reduces the number of keys showing at any one time.

I also have don't install the DarkUI map as well. The more places you find, the longer it takes to load the map all at once.

Yeah...thanks to the crappy engine and coding in this game, it's par-for-the-course.

I've resolved to just trash my savegames and start over again at around 90 hours into the game. It keeps it fresh and entertaining.

Next time I'm not rolling another vampire though. Its fun but I just want to see what it's like to be normal again.

Could be bloat and/or "abomb."  Try fixing your one of your savegame files with Wrye Bash and see what happens.

That actually works??

The last time I tried it...it corrupted my savegame and made it unplayable. I didn't care because that save was unplayable anyway with all the lag... ;D
