Ok, I may of looked over it at some point, but where it says portrait 1, 2 3 ect in the traits is there a custom portrait pack to go with these? or are they just for other peoples use if they want to add their own image's?

Right now the mod uses 15 custom portraits which those go with and more are planned to arrive in the future.

Guru, what do you think of Aliris' idea?

I'm thinking something along the lines of:

lilithian = {
has_coa_on_barony_only = yes
graphical_culture = westerngfx
crusade_cb = crusade
playable = yes

ai_convert_same_group = 0
ai_convert_other_group = 1 # Only if zealous

lilithian = {
graphical_culture = westerngfx

icon = 5 # generic pagan
heresy_icon = 5

color = { 0.9 0.2 0.2 }

god_names = {
SATAN LILITH
# need localization keys
# should probably have variants for both
}

evil_god_names = {
# need something here. what?
}

crusade_name = GREAT_HOLY_WAR
scripture_name = WORD_OF_SATAN # or whatever
priest_title = LILITH_ATTENDANT # "Attendant of Lilith" - can't come up with anything better offhand. Sounds fancy at least.
priests_can_marry = yes
can_call_crusade = yes
allow_looting = yes
allow_rivermovement = yes # make raiding for prisoners easier
female_temple_holders = yes
feminist = yes
divine_blood = yes # Sacred close-kin marriage mechanics
pc_marriage = yes
bs_marriage = yes
# seafarer = yes What does this even do?
short_reign_opinion_year_mult = 3 # The default is 2
max_consorts = 3
religious_clothing_head = 3 # this is norse. change?
religious_clothing_priest = 3 # as above
allow_in_ruler_designer = no
}
}

Pure suggestion, honestly. Can't say I put a ton of time into it either, hence tons of comments :P

I'm in the middle of messing with an idea for it right now.

I'm leaving God as a good name, and looking to stick with the idea that Lucifer is still in good standing with God, and Lilith being the first woman created by God isn't viewed negatively, she's simply a representation of female power, where Adam and what evolved into the other major religions are based more around male power.

I'm thinking the "Evil God" names will be things like the Archangel Michael. Beings under God who simply have taken a side contrary to that of Lucifer and Lilith.

Making the religions more symbolic of a family squabble to a large degree.

I'm also thinking that by having looting, I can look at putting in a rape event in one of the on_loot events.

Huh, never actually read much about the Lilith figure... that's a pretty fitting idea, according to Wikipedia - she left Adam because he refused to be subservient to her.

Then she banged the angel of death, so there's that (he's also a pretty interesting figure himself... apparently he's still a servant of God despite wanting men to do evil)

Note that you can also define a high god name too, which is mostly used for the polytheistic religions, but could work here too, to set something like "God" above the rest, but also include revered figures like Lilith etc. Just a thought. :)

By the way, a full explanation of what everything does can be found here: http://www.ckiiwiki.com/Religion_modding

Setting up a full papal succession is possible, but would take more modding to the interface for it (as described in links from the above page). I'd suggest that autocephaly might work better (i.e. the Orthodox style system).

Possibly so.

Also, might be worth looking at enabling Enatic Succession for that religion, or the like. Normally the game only lets you choose between male-only, male-preference, and no preference, but the definitions for female-preference and female-only are in the game, they just require modding to unlock. It wouldn't be required, but you could switch to it once you've established Lilithism (or whatever we're calling it).

Convince me. Hit me up with your view on the two and why just one person versus a type of hierarchy is more fitting.

And I'll just say that I'm on the verge of tossing the whole thing. From the looks of it, it's requiring me to customize a copy of the landed_titles.txt file. Which means I'm in the process of probably making this incompatible with other mods, such as SC which have custom religions.

I took a stab at just including my own file in the landed_titles folder, but it wasn't accepting the item unless I made it landed_titles.txt, which last I knew will end up trumping the one in the core folder, so I had to copy it over and add my changes directly to it.

When I release it, if it makes the mod incompatible with other mods that use custom religions - then that'll be too bad because I have a really big pet peeve about wasting my time and I've put in a couple hours so far in trying some different things with it.

Personally, I don't use Dark World with any other mods except for minor ones like Ruler Designer Unlocked.  If you think the mod would be better with its own religion -- and especially if you've already put a lot of work into it -- then I say go for it.  Not every mod can be cross-compatible with every other mod, and one that does ambitious things like this one even more so.  I have no problem switching mods on and off -- playing DW for a while, then switching over to Christianity Mod, then leaving the pervy stuff behind for a while and going to play After the End or even the basic unmodded game, and so on.

Other people can probably chime in with counterarguments for why they like having multiple mods active, but I just wanted to say my piece.

Yeah, modding in a full Papal succession is a ton of work, and I don't think it will be worth the time and effort for what it adds.

That was part of why I suggested using something else - either an orthodox style one, or something akin to the reformed pagan types. I think there's something to be said for the latter, where the head of the religion would wind up being your character, since she's the Prophetess of Lilith or such, after all. Neither of these would require any custom interface stuff, and could be done within the definition of the custom religion itself.

On an unrelated note, one thing I've noticed when there are immortal characters, is that the base game still likes to toss things like infirm/incapable at them due to advancing age. It's kind of annoying, though in one other mod (where immortality could be gained much more randomly) I noticed that the papacy became a huge backlog of incapable but immortal popes, who couldn't do anything, but stayed eternally in office, and continued to accrue piety to ridiculous amounts, which translated into sky-high religious authority for Catholicism.

Anyway, might be worth looking at an event that plays cleanup with these conditions, so that if someone is immortal and has either, then after a time they can recover (and thus have to be murdered to be taken out as intended).

Are you referring to the black heart icons in both the ruler designer and in each custom character's traits row? If so, no, there is no pack for the trait icons. I created a Dark World portrait trait pack just for the hell of it, but it would have to be updated as Dew releases more custom characters (which he will), so I'd rather not release it.

If you're referring to portraits past the 15 mark, those are reserved for when Dew releases more portraits. My portrait pack can support up to 84 portraits, but for the sake of simplicity, he's leaving the portrait slots he's not using so he can add to them later.

From what I can see, even the pagans, and orthodox require entries into the landed_titles.txt, as they still have to have the religious head defined and any holy sites for their religion that may be used. And as luck has it, the CK2 Validator finds a lot of issues with the core landed_titles.txt file, so my options were to clean it up, or ignore it and diminish the Validator's usefulness. So I've been cleaning it up.

In hindsight, I don't think it was worth the effort of adding a custom religion, as those were hours now removed from adding more events (and my time that I spend on this mod is quickly diminishing as I've new projects that I'm working on).

But the custom religion is now here to stay.

Even after getting all the Image pack DLC, I notice that if blinded some images still don't appear properly, especially those affected by DLC. :/

Fair enough - thanks for the hard work on it all, regardless. Everything looks great, and I love what you've done with the mod.

Same here. It does have to do something with this mod. Poor Leon here had to lose his eyes for me to confirm that.

I'm not going to worry about whether or not the blind effect is applied to images.

This is located in the mod directory as a read me regarding the static portrait replacer (ReMeDy Portrait Replacer README.txt):

3.) Blinded_eyes, red dots, boils, and the multiplayer purple venette GFX have been REMOVED. This is a side-effect to getting my mod to work. This does NOT mean those traits have been removed; only that I removed the gfx associated with them! Stat deductions, opinion modifiers, etc. still work; you just won't see the visual gfx on the portraits. Besides, I didn't like the look of them and they're rare enough to ignore.

Yeah, I figured ReMeDy's mod was responsible. Was to lazy to go look in the mod folder.

Alright. The religion isn't working as intended, and I'm done messing with it. I'm not in the mood to extract it right now either.

The game just doesn't seem to handle going from no one, to suddenly someone being a part of the faith. The religion interface screen is borked up regardless of whether of the religion I try to mimic. I've gone through christian (catholic and orthodox) and pagan religions and no matter what, the religion tab doesn't track shit properly at all.

I've run CK2 to test different looks way more than I like. It's lost all fun.

I'm so pissed off at it that I'm taking a break from it. I'll look to resume things at some point in the future. Worst case, I'll drop this piece of shit as 1.00 and call it done and let someone else figure it out.

I can't decide how I feel about the fact that there's no age check on making a slave a bodyguard... on one hand, a 10-year-old bodyguard is just absurd, but on the other, it's also straight up awesome

Huh... I guess that's why BGL just has its "Lilithian" religion as a heresy. Shame that didn't work out, sorry you sank so much time into it :/

Thanks for trying, dewguru.  Modding a game like this isn't easy, and I'm still impressed by the stuff you've already done.  (I mean, the Blood Moon Ceremony alone would probably be beyond my skills.)  Take a break, recharge your batteries, unwind, and come back fresh.  You may have entirely new ideas by then, or you may be satisfied with what you've got -- either way, you've already done a lot of great work.

Well fallout 4 is coming out in couple weeks. And most of us will be playing that, I assume.

Will you be doing any sexual mods for that game Dew? Would be interesting something like Dark World in fallout.

Edit: Also you've done an amazing job so far. Dont look too much into the things that went wrong and so on. Because the stuff you've done so far. Outweighs the things that didnt work how you wanted to.

btw this mod works really well with ck2plus, as it adds some new events and desisions about the messalian faith, allows u to duel against opponents during battles, making the personal combat bonuses u get from dark world realy usefull and it allows u to take prisoners during seiges that u can use for slaves or sacrfices. It's also the most stable overhaul i have tried and it seems to be fully compatible with dark world
