USKPs 2.1.3 and crashing on save

I need confirmation and help for USKPs 2.1.3

Although I started a new game with all USKP 2.1.3 patches, all worked fine until I finished killing the dragon quest for jarl of Whiterun. Once I bought Breeze home and exit Dragonsearh, my game crashes on save no matter where (what place) I save the game. I tried to save it in various places all over Skyrim, but still... I also tried to save the game on several different locations before entered Dragonserch after killing the dragon and have had no problem with saving. Does anyone else have similar problem? Or can someone suggest me what to do? I've been searching the net for this issue but there is no information about this.

Note: Haven't had this problem with USKPs 2.1.2.

Also, please, don't suggest e to revert to USKPs 2.1.2 :)

Have you thought of that..

Just kidding :P)

When you say you started with a clean save. it was completely new start. Riding the cart etc. Not some clean save found on Nexus or somewhere else. It is yours from the very annoying start? Typically having the Unofficial patches cause CTD before the game starts if they weren't from the same version I moved from 2.1.1 to 2.1.2 and had that problem.

I believe you are using MO. Correct? If so create a new Profile with the patches and nothing else and do a completely new start from there. yes ride boring annoying cart. I suggest this just to be sure that your game and patches are working properly. An alternative to this is to verify cache in Steam and get fresh copies from Nexus for your patches and see if that helps. Also try other fixes and attempts on a separate profile to protect your current one.

It also could be some mod that is working or changing dragon events. However i haven't heard of this. It could simply be some other mod gone bad. It is a strange and you might have to slowly recreate your mod list on a new profile adding each mod utnil you find the curprit.

Finally .. you really need a load order and paprus reports for support on issues like these. Others might have some better ideas if that was available. Info on what is needed and how to get it here

http://www.loverslab.com/topic/8534-please-read-before-posting-here/

Most problems are simple user errors and can be addressed quickly without all that info however for those few instances.. it is nice to have that info to review before posting.

Thanks for the answer ritualclarity.

No, it's not a clean save, it is a new game, started from the beginning. Not using MO yet since I'm learning how to use it properly. And, uh, sorry, forgot to post those two important files: load order and a log file, although I've checked my log file 3 times manually and with Tes5edit, and there wasn't anything about the cause of CTDing but lot of infos from Creature framework. The game didn't report any error about it. As for my load order, here it is using latest LOOT 0.8.0

You need a clean save for this when you move from 2.1.2 to 2.1.3 it causes strange problems. Give a new fresh start and play though to the point where you are having problems and see if that helps. Sure it is a pain but I experienced it on the previous upgrade. I used some "clean saves" that is had the patches installed but basically nothing else. I had all sorts of trouble. I discarded them.. and started fresh.. no problems at all since. I at least played past the dragon quest and was going to high rothguard. No problems.

Unless someone else can chip in with an answer from your new info give it a try. Shouldn't hurt anything even using NMM you are only creating a new save/ start. It is all I got for this issue. I wouldn't have chimed in but I saw many here but no posters and decided to give you at least something to follow up on.

Keep in mind there are no Clean Saves. Once a mod has been used.. it is a risk that there is info in that save. Change the mods or sometimes even change the version of the mod and might have some issues. The only clean saves are ones without any mods installed (and even then not if Skyrim gets updated again..).. I know paranoid. however I like keeping my stuff simple. Doing so usually eliminates many hours of fixes. (although means I spend many hours of prep.. not sure if that is a equal trade off however I don't get as frustrated ;)).

Try learning more about MO. It is a powerful tool once you get used to the program. Nice to help keep everything separate and easy to work on as well as keep your data folder clean.

LOL - ritualclarity...I apologize if not sound clear enough :)

I started completely new game from "0". It isn't clean save. When I installed USKP 2.1.3 I ran LOOT 0.8.0 and started brand new game and created completely new character.

Oh.. I was wondering why.. you wouldn't use a new character..

Then there is something hanging perhaps.. I am just guessing here. Have you tried to go back to a previous save where the game works and replay the last events and try again? Might be a glitch. If it occurs again and is repeatable there is probably something conflicting mod wise. that is causing this. and that is a pain in a dragons but to fix. / find. Trial and error is the only solution.

ON aside note. Now I realize why so many passed by.. lol. They saw that the easy answer has already been taken. (the clean save on using the patches) lol. It was I that didn't realize what was going on..

I am going to leave now before I do some major damage to someone.

Yes I did. :)

Al is fine with saving until I enter into Dragonsearch and regardless of buying house or not, I can't save the game in no place after exiting Dragonsearch. I didn't install any new mod in the mean time except SL Eager NPCs which doesn't interfere with it.

I guess I'll have to start a new game again. :)

Chances are you will experience the same event with a new game. I believe one of your mods you had installed is causing this problem. However it is possible that something was just wrong and a new start will work. If it don't .. you have to go through the trouble shooting system of adding one or two mods at a time from a clean start until you find the problem maker. It is a pain.

Also have you verified the Cache (to make sure the base game is good) and if you are using NMM when was the last time you have a clean install? Might have some script floating around in your data folder causing you problems..

Don't' know what more I can give. :) Considering the time this post has been up and the many Skyrim experts we have here haven't chimed in.. it is likely some strange random issue that can't easily be fixed .. sorry.

Not much help there. you have already done most everything you could do to get it to work properly. The rest is testing mods after mods to see what is conflicting.

Hahahahaha - Problem and solution found. The problem was in USKP 2.1.3 Heartfire. I reinstalled that patch and now, all is fine. I could save at any place after buying Breezehome.

Thank you ritual for your efforts. :)

With most mods. It is not wise to update or change things in middle of a major play though. It is best to keep any updates to critical game stopping fixes. Once you start a nice play through I find it best to keep the mod list and load order the same. Just a good general rule. Nothing set in stone.

As for the Unofficial patches updates. I have heard that sometimes people had problems when updating from a previous version to a new one. Not ever time but sometimes. Makes sense considering the depth of the changes they are doing for these updates.

The choice is yours of course I would recommend at a minimum that you have a proper backup of your game and files as needed so that you can restore if you find a problem after updating any mods patches etc just in case. Easier to restore than to problem solve in many cases.

Elf prince- glad it worked out for you friend.  :D

Ritual clarity-  i am going to assume it won't matter whether it's an new game start or not. i will have to make a game backup in either cases, right?

New games are pretty safe. You might want to have a nice backup of the work you did to create this new game but not necessary. (keep in mind that if something does go bad you may have to reinstall the entire game again instead of just restoring it or verifying cache). The backups are great idea regardless but really necessary when you have  a serious game play going on and can't or don't want to loose your progress. MO is a great manager as it is easy to backup.. (just copy it somewhere else) and can create new profiles to test or updted and make sure your changes aren't going to cause problems before you "retire" your old profile. You can even open MO up and copy those old unused profiles out for the possiblity that they might be needed if you find down the line some changes were causing problems much like Elf Prince. With MO he could test to his heart content and then return back to his old profile once he was content that his fixes worked. No risk of messing up your saves (MO has an option to keep them separate)

NO problem .. even though I really dint' give any advise to help you in the long run..lo.
