Possibly a stupid question...

Hello there! I am a total noob at modding and when it takes more steps than "Go to NMM and hit the activatearrow-10x10.png button" I'm liable to make mistakes and not know how to fix things and make sure shit works properly. So I come to you, dear lovelies of SexLab. This is the log from my FNIS after I hit Update FNIS Behavior.

IS this a joke? :)

>>Warning: Bad installation. Generator not run from a Skyrim installation directory.<<

...it tells you that the path you are trying to run FNIS from is wrong.

Correct path in your case would be probably "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim\Data\tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users\GenerateFNISforUsers.exe"

Sorryarrow-10x10.pngnot a joke I'm just super awful at modding. Thank you so much for your advice though I'll try this and see if it works. It seems to have so far.

There are very indepth tutorials on the web from Gopher and Gamerpoet(think that is how it is spelled) which gives step by step how to by video for your mod manager and FNIS. A simple google search could help you find many of the solutions you will need as you learn.

buddy

fnis is supposed to be installed into your skyrim's data directory. in your case i dont know where your skyrim is installed but make sure that fnis is going INSIDE the data directory

then next step would be to make a shortcut to the generate fnis for users for yourself on yoru desktop

then run your shortcut

thats how i use it

then next step would be to make a shortcut to the generate fnis for users for yourself on yoru desktop

The first activation for FNIS for Users will prompt for a shortcut so you don't even need to create one beforehand. :)
