Normal HDT or HDT-SMP

Which one do I use?

I  know SMP is better than normal one but can I use both?

Does using SMP break working of normal HDT objects?

you can use PE and SMP together, just not on the same node/bone (technically one could, it will just spazz out like crazy).

Okay, so SMP or PE?

Will SMP work for older PE objects?

SMP can't use the xmls from PE, so first step is to unlink the PE.xml from the mesh. The SMP.xml doesn't have to be linked in the mesh but the shape it works on is defined in the xml (thats what makes it so convenient, instead linking it to a multitude of meshes, only one xml per target shape is needed).

So just remove PE and shift to SMP without any issues right?

As long as you have memory extensions or post processing injections, SMP will have issues. Whether you notice those issues or not is another story.
