Mizu78

looking for a skin template

Lately I've been playing the Nec Elf-Kaleah game save with the HGEC skin pack.

One thing I've been wanting to do is make the character more of my own by adding tattoos to her back and arms. Not a tramp tat, but this from the base of the neck, across the shoulders and down to the top of the buttocks.

But when I opened the body file I find it a little hard to read. The same for the arms. I don't want a simple barb wire around the upper arm but viking runes written from shoulder to wrist. But I am not even sure where in the file the shoulder shoulder starts.

I guess what I'm asking is there some one who knows where I can find a template that shows these or can some one do it for me?

I have made several tattoos before and tried to get a tattoo on the upper arm like you.

My method to locate each body part's position on the skin template is simple:

I marked a lot of numbers on the skin template, and then I opened up the game to check the location of those numbers and take some pictures as my references.

However, it’s a shame that I found the upper arms are ripped on the top,

this means you have to cut your tattoo sample in half to put it on the arm,

and make them connected in the game without mistake, which is very hard:s.

The more complicated the tattoo is, the harder to put it in the right way.

I guess that is why a lot of arm tattoos is like "barb wire" you said

Actually I have given up.

There is another easy way to locate each body part's position on the skin template: download this Tribal Tattoos Resource HGEC _ head06,

follow the instruction to move the entire tattoos to match the skin, this should be easy. After that, you can locate some parts which are hard to locate by observing the position of each tattoo,

and even know how the skin texture is deformed.

Personally, I think this is a better way.

You can export UV map template with NifSkope. Open up your body file.nif and right click desired body part. Then click Texture -> Export Template.

Basically with this method you can create texture even from scratch. Import that tga file to 2D program of your choice, and the next is simple(but not easy) repeating work. I'm afraid that tatoo on the back is very hard to put it in the right way, because 'seam' of the body is mid-line of the back. and the same goes to the arms and legs.

Anyway if you save when you're done or while doing, the preview in the skope will immediately change, so you can check your texture statues from time to time.

Thanks Adrenaline, I think I'll be going with your method since I really don't know how to work NifScope. Other then changing a texture path from "Folder 1, a.DDS a to Folder 2 sub-folder 3, b.DDS" I really should not try playing with the mor ecomplicated functions.

O.o O.o O.o O.o O.o

Exporting UV map isn't more complicated than changing the texture path. Just right click!

But anyway, good luck! :D
