Weird bug (even for oblivion)

Im outside Skingrad, west of the stables and vinyards, when I hear 'stop thief' and NPCs and guards swarm.

I follow, there is bandit being killed.

I loot the bandit and suddenly I'm being arrested.

I choose to pay the fine and wind up in.... Leyawin.

Haven't changed any mods up in a few weeks that'd do this, and have never seen it happen before.

edit: reloaded an autosave that I'd took maybe thirty saeconds before it happened, and waited until morning the same as I'd done.

This time, TWO bandits come charging in, apparently chasing a NPC, however this time nothing happened, and no bounty.

Checked all inventory, nothing stolen.

No bounty listed on me either.

That's just Oblivion being Oblivion. I've been charged with murder for killing bandits - and I've been arrested for looting them, as well. Only happened once or twice, but it IS a memorable event because of the WTF? factor.

when i get bored i use hilarity magic to kill every flip skirt in town, failed levitate is great for killing anyone without incurring a bounty...that also helps me save the lil guard novices in every town, if they get the killing blow on those flipskirts they get killed afterwards... annoying at its best... i'll put them in the guard faction or something... umm, for some reason i'm in the guard faction, every guard says something else instead of hello or hi bosmer/orc/breton/imperial/sunnova skyrim/horrible beast(lich/vamp/werewolf/plain walking corpse) they greet me with "i'm your relief", some mod must be playing around with my factions

i think the bandits added by mods sometimes don't share the bamdit/marauder faction, so you have to wait till they attack you so it counts as self-defense

I'll do you one better :I cheated and killed 3 mythic dawn agents during the tutorial with the console when I looted the body of one and Glenroy attacked me this apparently triggered the a skip tutoraial mod that wasnt supposed to be active and i found myself in chorral then a gaurd arrested me for theft having no money since this happened on the fight where the captain dies I had to go to jail when I was released i emerged in the imperial city prison thus breaking my game because i hadnt finished the tuorial so i had no birthsign class ect.

Yeah, sounds like it was a looting bandit issue, execpt for the whole appearing in Leyawin issue.

And Sammy, that sounds similar to mine actually, in that you got out at the wrong place.

you can always go back to the tutorial sewer, it is across the lake from vilverin, open every door with console commands and do the tutorial like you were supposed to, i normally go back once i get the hilarity spells, resurrect captain renault & glenroy and recruit them with MCS, i would recruit the emperor, but i'd rather do it after baurus is following martin around, i don't like companions with following packages attached :3
