Adding a new part to an animated mesh

Today I was adding parts to existing vanilla meshes in the Oblivion - meshes.bsa, After added the parts I wanted, saving and repacking the bsa the problem I ran in to was the parts I added did not move with the rest of the mesh during animated motions. The parts that I added would float in mid-air where the anim started and would then "reattach" once the anim was complete. My question is when adding a new part to a mesh that is capable of animated motion, how does one make the new parts move with the rest of the mesh?
