Struggling with FPS on a mid-level machine

Just wondering what everyone's pc builds are for this forum. Also, maybe we can solve some FPS issues or something. Like mine :D!

I have a HD Power Color Radeon 5770 with an overclocked i5-750 and 16 gigs ram. I normally get decent fps, and you know what I mean when I say that for Oblivion. NPCs come around and....no more nice FPS.

I only play on 1280 by 720 resolution so it blows my mind that not only NPCs, but Nightwynd's beautiful robe version of the Forbidden armor just slaughters my FPS. I cry at night not being able to use it. If anyone has a similar build as mine, some ini tweaks that they think might help (I've edited the heck out of that thing from TweakGuides), or anything in general that might help that would be great.

Oh, and thanks to all the modders for the Lovers PK system. You guys are all amazing.

P.S. I use BOSS plus some of my own custom sorting and then using Donkey's load order for lover's pk to sort all my mods.

are you running the high heels system? If so did you install chupa's fps fix for it?

He has a thread in the non adult mods section with a script fix for some scan that runs way too many times per second with the high heels mod.

It brought my machine back to around 60 to 75 fps running oblivion at 1920x1080.

I actually am, I don't use many high heel based clothing but thanks for the tip! I'll try that out right now.
