Warped Realities

DistantLOD crash.

Simple issue, still baffling though. Here are the circumstances, if I have the official patch installed then I cannot have distant landscapes enabled or it will crash upon getting into the game.

Using Windows 7 64bit service pack 1. 4gigs ram, quad core intel processor 2.66ghz. Nvidia Geforce GTX 275. Currently we have the Shivering addon and patch installed and nothing else.

So yes. in summary. Distant lands + no patch=fine. Distant lands + patch=not fine. No distant lands+patch= fine but weird how the world seems all silent hill with the draw distance fog.

Wish I could help, but this game stumps me.

Mine still crashes when playing for no good bloody reason.

1) Try adding in the UNofficial patch, plus the unofficial patch supplementals.

2) Download and run TES4LODGen.

3) If that doesn't do it, try installing Optimised Distant Land MAX and running TES4LODGen again.

4) You do not have sufficient RAM - You should have AT LEAST 4gb. Buy more.

1. I wasn't aware the unofficial patch had supplementals. I since installed it though and no dice.

2. Will do.

3. Tried half of that, optimized distant land does nothing.

4. I have 4gigabytes. I clearly stated as such in my specs, and the system worked fine till lately. I haven't downgraded my ram or anything.

A tad weird, but Oblivion modding tends towards the Big Land of Weird in general.

I'd reiterate point (2), then check the load order on the UOP and supplementals (don't forget the modules dealing with SI and KOTN, if you installed those as well).

For a comparison, I'm running on QTP3 Redimized, ODL, UL and AWLS together with the UOP without much of a hitch. If you're using OBMM, you might also want to try the conflict detector.

Sorry, was late at night and I thought I read you had 1.5gb of ram for some reason...

Bear in mind, simply installing mods WITHOUT running TES4LODGen will, for the most part, do nothing. Essentially you're just using the default vanilla LOD unless you run that.

If it was just modding i could maybe avoid the mods that caused it, but this occurs on an unmodded game with just the official patch installed. All I can figure at this point is perhaps this is windows update's fault as i turned that back on recently. Seen as I've nuked and reheated my game several times now to no avail as well as cleaned and reinstalled my graphics drivers I figure something has changed on my computer to make it incapable of playing Oblivion without crashing at the drop of a hat. Thanks a lot microsoft. Thanks a lot for standing between me and my porn.

Edit: I finally got Event Viewer working again and I got the error details extracted for when it crashes Although I have no idea if anyone will understand this in the slightest cause I dont. Here we go.
