Nifskope & New Vegas quirk

In Oblivion, I can apply (and test) textures on the .nif file by selecting a texture via NiTexturingProperty, but that node is absent in pretty much every single NV mesh I've opened with NifSkope. How can I apply textures on NifSkope to preview?
